Daò – Daniela Romanò nasce e lavora nella provincia di Milano.

Spinta dalla sua passione per l’arte e dalle doti che ha sempre manifestato nel campo del disegno sin dalla più giovane età, orienta i suoi studi liceali verso L’Umberto Boccioni dove consegue la maturità artistica. Il suo interesse per l’arte ha sempre cercato nuovi spazi ed orizzonti, ampliando la sua conoscenza personale verso approfondimenti da autodidatta. Volge il suo interesse verso l’air-painting, tecnica che le permette di sperimentare nuove sensazioni grafico-illustrative. La comunicazione insita nell’arte e nel mondo in sè, la spingerà ad abbracciarla nel senso più ampio del termine continuando i suoi studi in campo pubblicitario e laureandosi in Art Direction (Direzione Creativa).

La gestualità, l’istinto ed i tratti impuri della sua formazione diventano così più maturi, più precisi e “consapevoli”, permettendole di attingere alle più svariate esperienze materiche del suo bagaglio culturale.

Questa per lei era arte, l’arte del riuscire a “rendere visivo” tutto ciò che merita di essere visto, l’arte del creare arte utilizzando tecniche e generi diversi. Cominciò a soddisfare così dal 1996 le più disparate richieste di disegni di ogni genere e dimensione, spaziando da nudi a carboncino e gessetto, ritratti a sanguigna e matita, a paesaggi fioriti ad olio e temi ad acquerello, china e china acquerellata, sculture in creta e gesso ed immagini realizzate tramite aerografia. La duttilità che la caratterizza le ha sempre permesso di trovare collocazioni diverse, multiple, sfociando poi verso la scelta, verso un’identificazione personale più completa nei confronti di ciò che riusciva a creare: UNA SUA ARTE.

Oggi i temi rappresentati sono piuttosto diversi tra loro, ma ogni tema segue un suo genere e “Daò” ha dato un nome ad ogni genere e ad ogni rispettivo tema.

I paesaggi sono delle “visioni” dai particolari ricorrenti: i rilievi, gli scorci, le tecniche ed i colori che tendono costantemente verso l’oro e l’argento, qualche tocco di bronzo, il nero ed il rosso scuro.

Anche le sabbiature contribuiscono a “segnare” le sue opere, come quelle quasi “zebranti” dei nudi che ne seguono l’anatomia, dove i corpi sono dati da stesure perlate ed i fondi resi da linee morbide e materici caldi colori: sovente il nero e il marrone. I cavalli, spesso presenti nelle sue tele, sono resi da sabbia nera mentre i fondi sono sempre monocromatici, brillanti, assumendo più un effetto tessuto/seta che un aspetto dipinto.

Alcuni quadri hanno elementi che richiamano l’arte del passato, altri hanno parti che possono definirsi “etniche”, ma comunque in ognuno di essi si assapora l’armonia dell’intuizione unita alla capacità tecnica con cui viene realizzata.

Daniela Romano was born and works in the province of Milan.

Driven both by her passion for art, and by the natural talent that she displayed from an early age in the field of design, she steered her studies towards the L’Umberto Boccioni Institution where she began to mature as an artist. Her interest in art has always sought out new creative spaces and horizons, and she has broadened her knowledge through in-depth self-teaching of techniques. Spray-painting, in particular, is a field where her interests have led her, due to it being a technique which, in particular, allows her to experiment with new graphical / illustrative sensations.

The inherent communication contained within artistic works, and the wider world, enticed Daò, and led her to continue her studies in the field of advertising, culminating in her successful graduation with a qualification in Art Direction.

The creative instincts and unrestrained aspects of Daò’s training have become more mature and more precise with time, allowing her to explore fully the varied material experiences of her cultural upbringing. And this, for her, is art: the art of managing to render visible everything that should be visible; of creating art through not just one, but a variety of techniques and genres.

In this manner, since 1996 Daò has completed works of the most diverse kinds according to requirements, ranging from charcoal sketches of the human form to portraits in XX and pencil; from oil paintings of landscapes to water-colours of similar subjects. She has also produced sculptures in clay and plaster, as well as images generated through airbrushing techniques. The flexibility that characterises her work has always allowed her to discover new juxtapositions. And it is these original combinations which define the focus of her work, and these elements in turn combine to create her unique artistic vision.

Today, the themes covered are wide-ranging, but each theme follows the same identifiable thread, and “Daò” is a title that covers all of the above genres and the related themes. The landscapes, in particular, follow a “vision” distinguishable through recurring details: reliefs, panoramic views, and colours that often comprise gold and silver, touches of bronze, black and dark red.

Sand-paintings stand out as a regular feature of her work, such as her “zebraesque” nudes, whose bodies are rendered by pearled outlines and the backgrounds of which are created out of hot colours, in the main blacks and dark browns. Horses, frequently present in her work, are rendered in black sand whilst the backgrounds are always bright and monochromatic, giving the piece the appearance of having been composed of a material such as silk rather than paint.

Some of Daò’s works have elements that recall artistic movements from previous eras; some works could be classified as ethnic; but in all of them the carefully balanced combination of artistic intuition combined with technical expertise, that so characterises Daò’s work, can be readily identified.
